Fifteen years in insurance distribution: scratch agencies, multi-location operations, the captive side and the independent side. One agency I built wrote $8 million in new business in its first year. I learned how companies actually work by being on the hook for one.

I started my first agency in a building that used to be a candy store, with no book and no clue. I figured it out the only way that sticks, which is the hard way. Later I went independent, built more, and started a network venture that I wound down.

Now I build software so a small business can run like a big one, and the person who owns it gets a life instead of a second mortgage on their time. And I write here, mostly about the strange, good thing happening right now: the tools that used to belong only to giants don't anymore.
